Mzansi has seen the most gruesome racist comments directed at black people by whites. Recently, a video footage of Vicki Momberg surfaced. In the video, the she is heard calling Black policemen who were at the scene trying to assist her “Kaffirs” and also that if she would meet up any black person she would run them over with her car and also shoot them .
When we allow for these acts of brazen racism to flourish, we, by extension, assist in propping up and perpetuating white supremacy. This is not what our struggle heroines and heroes fought for. It is upon us to stand together and say enough! this shall no longer be tolerated! We do not have space for racists in the society we are working towards. The Human Rights Commission and the South African Police Services are investigating the incident following a charge.
It is reported that more than 58% of all cases reported to the Human Rights Commission in a year are race- prejudice related . This clearly indicates that the manner in which previous racist cases are handled is not effective as it does not deter others. Once formally charged, turn around times for sentencing these racist criminals also drag on for months as evident in the Penny Sparrow case.
We must dismantle the systems that allow white supremacy to continue to flourish in 2016. We call on OCC Property Development to dismiss Vicki Momberg following her racist slurs hurled at black people seen on the video footage by eNCA shot on the 16th June 2016.
Together, let us use our collective power to ensure that all racists are brought to book and receive the harshest sentences possible.
The Director, OCC Property Development
We call on you to permanently remove Vicki Momberg from your employ with immediate effect for calling Black policemen who were at the scene trying to assist her “Kaffirs”, and for saying that if she would meet up any black person she would run them over with her car and also shoot them. This is unacceptable and it frowns upon the democratic gains made of this country.
